Default Longer studs for 16x7 wheels & spacers + hub question

I've searched through takai's definitive guide for longer studs but I'm still at a bit of a loss. I'm wanting to put on some 16x7" wheels which right now I'm focussing on fitment for the rear. Did some calculations earlier, my rear studs are only 23mm of exposed thread from the hub surface. With 4 full turns of the nuts with the new wheels on, I have only 8mm of space to the hub surface. I need 15mm for a spacer. Reason for this is because I don't want the new rubber gouging itself against the strut (it's already close enough with the current rubber and rims on), and I want to push the wheel out more so it's almost flush with the wheel arch.

So going by this, I'd need a minimum of 30mm (exposed thread area), so for total length of studs I'm looking at 45-50mm (including shoulder/knurl area). Does this sound about right?

Also, still on these wheels, I'm not sure if this is an issue or not, but I'd like some advice on what's best to do about it.

In this pic you can see how the black sleeve fits perfectly with the inside of the current wheel.

However, with this one you can see how there's about a 5mm gap between where the sleeve ends and where the centre of the wheel begins. As the wheel sits right now the centre of it is not touching the hub at all, although the rest of the rear of the wheel face is flush with the hub, and all the weight is going directly upon the studs. Will I be looking at some specially-made hub-centric spacers for these wheels to fit right or is there another simpler solution?

Thanks in advance for help and ideas.

You can get spacers specially made whigh bolt to your existing spacers and have thread on them but the minum size is an inch (25mm). This will bring your wheel out and give you the length on the nuts you need. Otherwise you can just buy longer studs.

Nice Products make longer studs (e.g. Landcuiser items) - Takia's build thread for his MA61 has some pics/info about longer studs...

i wont buy into the spacer debate - has been covered numerous times elsewhere

... I don't think I heard that.. So is my car's tint. I guess you don't draw as much attention to yourself as you would if you were driving like a dick and attracting the cops to you. 15mm spacers on the rear won't be as noticable as wheels poking outside of the guards. Thankfully I know most of the blue boys up here and they're not as canary-happy as those in capital cities.

Actually I think I may have figured out the issue with the wheels not mating up to the hub like the current ones do, I just needed a visual aid to understand how the wheel, spacer and hub fitted together.

Do you have pics of which ones you're referring to?

+15mm on the rears is about perfect to get the rears sitting right, gets them away from the struts but shouldn't go too close to the guards so that they rub there - with rolled guards you could probably go to +19/20 or so. Either way, it makes the rear end look a lot more natural, the stock offset tucks the rear wheels so far into the guards it isn't funny, which is strange because you'd expect the rear brake-hat style (with the handbrake in the hub) to push the wheels out further than a combined caliper/handbrake setup.

And the spacers I've got on the rears at the moment have the 54.1mm locating lip for the wheel and a respective cutout on the rear to locate onto the lip on the hub, gives a nice tight and even fit that way.

Yeah thanks mate. I too thought 15mm seemed like the ideal number to get me out of trouble with these spacers. I contacted GriZZly about his spacers and studs as well, but it seems he's been away from the computer for a few days. Hope he comes back soon and sees that I want a pair of these.
