Not needed.
My cousin drove over in his 2002ish 3lt non turbo hilux and said somthing was rattling under the transmission, i had a quick look at it and it seems toyota have added a balance weight to the passenger side of the transfer case, its just bolted to the case, its i cast-iron weight that hangs on a rubber insulator mount,i'm guessing to offset the weight on the drivers side chaindrive or geardrive or whatever is in there, it must be like some sort of harmonic balancer at certain rpms, anybody else seen one and are they needed?
Not needed.
The above opinion is just that - my opinion. It is not shared by any business that I am currently or have previously been involved with, nor any of their employee's.
not needed- care to elaborate a little? whats its purpose?
It is just to reduce harmonics/vibrations in the drivetrain, have seen them turfed with no side effects
All its there for is to help with anti resonance.
A lot of the new cars/suv's have them to just make things quieter.
simple as that
COOL, thanx guys
