TA22 Wiring Harness

Hi,

As mentioned earlier, here is the wiring harness and schematic for the TA22. It is for the 1973 model, so earlier/late rmodels may be different, but from what I have seen the main core of wiring is the same across the years.

I also imaged the sizes for a 21inch monitor, otherwise the writing is too small.

When you click on the thumbnail it will show the image slightly larger in ImageShack. Just click on that image and it should expand to a readable size, but you'll have to "slide" it around to see parts of it.

Anyway, hope these help. These images are from the Tractorworks manual, which is the definitive factory manual for the TA22.

Oh, and don't worry about the Carina stuff. The cars are very similar and the manual shows Carina (TA10 and TA12) info. Just ignore those parts.

The images will cover a couple of posts, and I'll also post in here how to read and interpret the wiring harness so you can follow the wires from the connectors. Armed with this knowledge you should be able to trace and check all wires within your TA22, and know what each connectors does and where it connects to.

I've also included LHD schematics/wiring-loom here also for those poor souls who drive on the wrong side of the road.

Hi,

Okay... that's all the wiring stuff for the TA22, with some TA10/TA12 thrown in for fun.

Now, let's interpret the above info so you can make some use of it. It's pretty easy and a lot of you may know this stuff, but I am writing this for those who have never seen or used a wiring diagram, and need to get some idea what it means and how to trace their wiring.

For simplicity I'll use the Washer Wiring assembly, but once you get the hang of it you can then tackle to more busy diagrams - it's the same concept. Sorry about the large image, but I needed to see the text clearly



First thing to notice is the harness diagram above shows the actual connector types and shapes, plus the grommet between the interior of the car and the engine bay. The connectors to the left of the grommet are in the engine bay, and those to the right are inside the vehicle.

Look at the square 6-pin connector to the far left, and refer to the legend (the table below the actual harness diagram in the above image). The connector pins are labelled (left to right, row by row) I8, I12 - I6, I10 - I4, I1.

Referring to the legend...

I8 is a Blue Wire with a Yellow Stripe (LY1) that connects to I9 ( the 6-pin square connector inside the vehicle) Wiper - and it connects the Wiper Switch terminal #3 to the Wiper Motor terminal #3.

I12 connects to I13 (which is the 2pin connector on the far right, inside the vehicle) by a Blue wire with a yellow stripe. It connects the Wiper Switch W-terminal the the -ve terminal of the windscreen washer motor.

I6 connects to I7 - Blue Wire with orange stripe. Wiper switch #2 terminal to the wiper motor #2 terminal.

I10 connects to I11 - Blue Wire with white stripe. Wiper switch #4 terminal to the wiper motor #4 terminal.

I4 connects to I5 - Blue wire with black stripe. Wiper switch #1 terminal to wiper motor #1 terminal.

I1 connects to 12 - Blue wire. Fuse that connects to the B terminal on the wiper motor

The colour codes are in the first iamge in this thread... but here they are again...

R = Red
W = White
L = Blue
G = Green
Y = Yellow
B = Black
O = Orange

If more than one letter is used, the first letter signifies the basic colour of the wire, and the second letter signifies the stripe.

So a GW code means a Green wire with a Ywllow stripe along it.
