IG- output from the ignitor.
It can also be found in the diagnostics box, labelled IG- (use this to figure out exactly which wire it is elsewhere in the loom)
Its also in the engine-to-body loom plugs near the ecu.
Its a black wire.
hi, im looking for the tacho signal wire on a 1jz so i can hook up an aftermarket tacho as the car that my 1j is in doesnt have a tacho.
Ive been told the wire im after is in the big plug that goes onto the ignitors, but i have been given different information on which wire exactly it is.
Can anybody help me out please? What colour wire is the signal wire that i need to hook into and run to my tacho?
Thankyou in advance

right so i found the balck wire where it goes into the ignitors. i ran a wire off this to wire signal wire on my brand new tacho. Nothing. Dunno whats going on. i put the multimeter on the wire where it goes into my tacho and the signal is there but the needle on the tacho isnt coming off zero so im a little bit stumped at the moment
You need to confirm the type of signal the tacho needs to operate. It may not be compatible with the signal from the igniter

Chances are if its a 'decent' aftermarket tacho built anytime in the last 5 years then it will be compatible.
I gather you have the power and earth hooked up to the tacho as well?
They generally have 4 wires, power earth signal lights.

yeah it was all hooked up. its a specometer tacho. i have pulled it out and am going to hook it up to my mates vn commo and see if it works on that, if not the then the tacho must have an issue.
