Can we claify if you can advertise your car (sold posted on the forums) in your sig?
Hi,
This is a heads-up to those people who find their signatures have been changed or chopped.
Your sig will be changed on the following conditions......
1) If it is over 5 lines (of text) long (and if you quote someone this includes the actual word "quote")
2) If it contains inappropriate or offensive language
3) If it contains advertising to another company or services (we have forum sponsors who pay to have their details on these forums, and it is not fair to let users advertise other companies for free in their sig).
The only users who can advertise (their own company/services) in their sig are the forum sponsors.
We don't have a problem if you have a link in your sig to other Toyota related forums.
So, if you find your sig has been changed, and maybe got an infraction for it, and have to re-read the forum rules again, then you know why.

I thought you could as it shows your vehicle history and experiences.
You cannot advertise a car as 'for sale' in your thread though.
... will wait for clarification though.
I will edit mine to something better though.
The signature rule is fairly clear.
• No wording that can be construed as advertising goods/services is allowed in signatures. (Forum Sponsors excluded for their own business only)

Beige.... The new Black!!!
what about wanted items? the wanted thread moves very quickly and not many look in there, and if you're posting in relevant threads your wanted item might get better exposure?
understandable if not though, just thought i better clear it up for the rest of the peasants
No Wanted Items Either... It is still a form of Advertising

?eh
this new stuff is all getting silly isnt it?
i mean, can we still list what model car we own? or is that only one step away from a 'parts wanted' ad? i wouldnt want to tempt someone into offering me something? seriously, how is a 'parts wanted' a conflict of interest? quite the opposite id've thought

Because it is seen as a way around meeting the requirements for posting in certain classified sections, and rather than say 'you cant do this, BUT...' - its just a plain rule against it.
It was never new, it has always been in the rules. We just have anew way to moderate it now.
ps - your sig is over 5 lines but i cant change it/infract you for it...
meh, even to me, this new revamp/crackdown seems to be rather harsh and without logic. but thats just me... maybe i just cant cope with the lack of 'aussie flexibility'
re sig: haha, so it is, never really looked at it

Yes, you are right with the wanted section being open to all but like i said, we cant have a rule saying you 'cant do this, but...'
We have nothing against open speech. I have not been around long enough to know what went on in the last forums but i know that some rules were changed/introduced to limit the amount of garbage present.
Everything mentioned is taken into consideration, from reputation to classifieds and even this thread. There is no ideal system, so it is all about finding out what best suits the needs of the board and Toymods community. So dont feel like you are stifled by the rules, they have always been there and everyone agrees to them upon signing up.
There is only so much time that the current mods and admin team can put towards monitoring the forums along with issues present from the Club side of things and their personal lives. Infractions is seen as the forum moderating themselves as it is a privelege that is given to Club members, allowing a wider base of people who are able to influence things, bringing to the table differing opinions with the aim that it will give each person something to think about before posting something that may be in breach of the rules.
