Pretty much any early-mid 80's 6-cylinder Toyota will have the same trans, primarily MA61 Supra and MX73 Cressida.
Hi all,
Just joined this group and have just purchased a really cheap ms123 crown royal from 1984 with an a43d 3 speed O/D.
Sadly when i select D the car goes nowhere but i can drive by going up through the gears with a bit of a shake from L up to 2.
My question is what other models had a trans that was a straight swap or what other transmission will fit?
Look forward to your responses.
Steve.

i thought so, thanks heaps for confirming it for me.
MX 62 Cressie runs the same but MX 73 is the same but however it is computer controlled.
Cheers Brett.
The early MX73's (with a 5ME) aren't computer controlled, but they may be A43DL's, not just A43D's.

Hi guys and elstevo..
I have a mate with a MS123 series 11 (1986) so it has the ECT (power/economy etc) can I use a auto from a series one MS123 ???
Also, how much is it going to cost approximately for a mechanic to swap over boxes? Can't be more than two hours work surely?
Cheers
Assuming the series 1 and 2 are setup like the MX73, then no.
The MX73 series 1 has a 5ME and A43D, where as the series 2 has a 5MGE and A43DE.
Budget 4 hours.

ah you could be right...the series 1 MS123 is a 5M-E, and the series 11 is a 5MG-E and has the Pwr/econ/Normal mode ECT, where as the MS123 only has the o/d
