Nath, all the internal edges of the trim need to be thoroughly cleaned, and massaged back to their original shape. Failure in this area means the clips will never grip the "stainless" properly. I generally use a pair of pliers, a block of wood and some small picks I have made to accomplish this. If they were bent or twisted coming off the car, they might as well go straight into the trash can, as they will never fit correctly again. Make sure you have the full compliment of clips on the window surround. If you have to replace the clips, mask the edges of the window opening with some good thick masking tape, I can guarantee you will chip the paint if you do not protect it.
Make sure you have massaged a buscket load of windscreen sealant between the the rubber seal and the car, on that note also ensure you squeeze a bead of sealant under the rubber at the glass edge.
If you do not feel confident in placing these trims, get a panel shop to do it, or a windscreen fitter, they stuff the paint, they have to fix it.
cheers Chuck.
