    Default Dodgy ae82 steering column

I recently had to get at the instrument cluster to check some wiring, and low and behold what do I find half of the steering column is held on by zip ties. The front 2 bolts (closet to the driver) bolt up fine, but all the other bolts are about 4cm’s off (as per the photos), and I don’t really know what could be wrong.. any ideas anyone?

that steering column is a manual steering unit....
somone did a power steering conversion on it perhaps.
the difference is in the shaft length.

i know this cos i did mine last year.
