Reset the ECU and reset the codes and see if it comes back again. Sometimes they just through odd codes for no reason.
Thats what Id do. Could just be a random error code.

Hi All,
I'm getting a message on my dash in Jap writing. I've translated the message thanks to this site http://www.hotkey.net.au/~cheets/war...ning_codes.htm.
It's the warning message about Engine Electrical System. The car seems to run fine and isn't down on power or doing anything weird. Anyone know what might be the cause of the problem or where I should start looking? Could there just be a loose plug somewhere?
Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks
Fingers

Is disconnecting the battery for 30 mins is enough to reset the ECU? I did that this morning and it still threw up the message.
I went out at lunch and it didn't come on for a couple of minutes but it quickly cam up again and has been on since. Its a bit of a bizarre one. I'm supposed to be handing it over this weekend to its new owner and I don't really want to hand it over with these messages popping up.
Shaun, my thoughts exactly!Originally Posted by NeoNasty
yes that is plenty of time to reset the ecu.
Isn't there somewhere like www.mkiv.com or the nz mkiv site that lists what all the codes mean and how to trouble shoot them? Have you checked what the voltage is when the car is running?
I hope so Chris! I'll have a search on that site you've got there and see if I can turn anything up.
