nope! bigport crank has 40mm bigend journals, 4agze crank has 42mm journals
my gze crank is stuffed and i would like to know if a bigport crank is the same crank? was told 4age cranks are the same
ta
nope! bigport crank has 40mm bigend journals, 4agze crank has 42mm journals
Im just a little lostbut ill be fine!
4AGZE and 4AGE cranks are the same for the specific model engine. I.e. a 3rib GE crank with 40mm journals will fit a 3rib GZE also with 40mm journals.
Same for a 42mm journaled crank and engine.
You cant fit a 40mm crank to a 42mm journal without major effort, and vice versa.
Your bigport crank is most likely a 40mm journal crank.
Not all of them, i have an AW11 GZE in my garage back in Canberra which has a 40mm journal.Originally Posted by beige_bandit

3rib gze?
Is this aw11 a jap aw11 or a aussie aw11?

Its only the engine out of one. Bigport, dizzy, side exit intercooler pipework. All points to AW11. No idea if its a Jap or Aus, but its certainly a 3 rib 40mm journal.

so its a N/A bluetop bigport thats someone has put a supercharger on!
I'm sure there is no such thing as a 3rib 4agze block, and im sure no gze had 40mm bigend journals

Whatever it is it came with all the stock mounts for everything, and the flat 8.1:1 pistons... with 18mm gudgeon pins, and i thought that GZEs didnt come with 18mm gudgeons either. That and it looked perfectly stock, only issue was a blown HG (and bigend as i found out later).
I was originally going to put it in my AE92 and then i found a full AE92 Trueno GTZ halfcut, so this anomaly has been sitting in my parents garage for the last 3 years (along with another 3 4As).

there is no standard gze piston that takes a 18mm pin, all 20mm! and the standard comp ratio of the very fisrt gze was 8.0:1 so i think you,ve got a bitza,
But never mind all this, so your folks live in canberra? and you say this engine along with another 3 4a's are floating about hey? we may have to do some business!
What are the other 4a's(carby's?) PM me some details please
Im just a little lostbut ill be fine!
All 4AGEs and are my spare parts stash, you aint getting your hands on any of them![]()

I have a bluetop bigport 7rib 42mm journal 18mm gudgeon 8bolt flywheel engine.
It's a true factory wtf
i wonder why HKS makes 18mm pin low comp GZE pistons then?Originally Posted by beige_bandit

i've had never heard or seen or seen reference to a 3 rib 4agze or a 18mm gudgeon gze piston either. or a 7 rib 'bluetop' 4age for that matter. it's wierd.![]()
the 7 rib 'red and black' writing bigport 4age (that came stock in oz spec aw11's) has the same crank as a gze.
i was under the impression 3 ribs are all of ae86/82 origin. IE pre GZE.
i wasnt aware you could get 42mm big ends with 18mm wrist pins either.
you can definately use 40mm 3rib type crank in a later gze block, big ends change size but mains dont. you will then have the problem of having to use the corisponding pistons (cast 9.7cr).
maybe so you can rebuild the early bigport 4ag to be FI friendly etc..Originally Posted by oldcorollas
I dunno if they are specifically for the gze, maybe they've included gze in the title to attract potential search's.
This is a bit of a grey area, so AE101LEV id be getting a smallport crank to be on safeside. Or if youve got access to the bigport crank, measure the journals!
