Default Viewing ECU datalog .csv files

Quick question, what software are people using to review .csv log files from their ECU's?

I know many companies have data analysis software provided with their ECU's but some don't and I'm wondering what people are using in that case.

I can use Excel but not being super proficient in Excel and creating macros it can be quite time consuming so I want something simple where I can just open a logged file and review the data.

    Thanks in advance.

Only issue with opening straight to excel is that it will truncate any leading zeros on figures on a .csv file as all the cells are formatted as general and the .csv format will not allow you to save any changes made to the formatting of the file.

Best option would be to change the file ext when saved on the pc as .txt before you ever open it in excel then import into excel & set the format type for each column of data & then save it as a .xml file. This will then save all the format changes & make it easy to view.

You would obviously have to know what the delimtter is for the file as well to split the columns.

Last time i did it i wrote something up in Java to review them, thinking of doing something a bit better in C# or similar instead.

I just wrote something similar for work to parse and smash through log files, it's in C#. If you haven't written anything useful by the time I get back to cars Chris, then I'll knock up something

I've been using Megalog viewer. Not 100% certain, but it should work fine with .csv. It's only a smallish program so give it a bash and if it doesn't suit dump it.

Megatunix might also be able to parse the CSV file - but that's just a guess.
