Default Nubie on Suspension - Weird

I use to jack up my car (front wheel) under an arm going to the wheels right below the shocks / coil.

My 'gator jack was stolen and I use the old tower type jack. won't fit under the arm so I jack-up my car right under the chassi. I use to see it on TV.

    - I keep on jacking it up and the car is so high up and the wheel is still on the ground.
TV should be right... and I am seeing my car doing the wrong thing.

I have driven it for so long, and it is my first time to see it this way
    Can any body enlighten me...?

Most of the cars are like this....
Mine is over a foot high and still the wheel is on the ground...

Check to make sure your shock absorber is still attached at both ends.

What type of car is it? The jacking points on my celicas are always listed as points along the sills which is fine for the supplied scissor jack as the suspesion only has a couple of inches of droop. The missus RAV 4 also only comes with a scissor jack but the jacking points are listed as being below the lower control arms as the little scissor jack would be lucky to extend high enough to reach the sill at normal ride height.

I guess it's about time to see a bit more of the rest of the world.

Thanks for all the replies. Still not getting it...

My car is RT132 Corona 1982, edition: 2-door hardtop GL.
    it's my avatar.

    I asked a mechanic friend.
Everything is bolted nicely... we jacked it up again... he said it's about 8 inch drop.
He always see things like it from old cars. specially Toyota's, here in the Phils., they last for ages.. lol

We road tested and he said the ride is smooth and can't say that shocks don't work.

He seemed there's nothing wrong with it...

It scares the crap out of me every time I drive it now. lol
    Might fall off while driving..

    Man... 8 inches...?

are you talking a rear or a front wheel?? As I would expect a rear wheel to stay on the ground a long while if you are only jacking one side.

Sorry just read top post, has the car been lowered with short springs?? However without short shocks its taking a while to lift the tyre??

Well that might be it... The car has lower front, and I have small wheels.
Former owner might have shortened the springs...

    Thanks.
