    Default J160/1ggte flywheel options

I'm asking here cause theres no help back in the uk when it comes to these engines. so i hope you can help.

Basically i have the Lexus 6 speed J160 gearbox attached to the 1GGTE engine in my IS200.

Unfortunetly thedual mass flywheel has broke and i need to source a replacement single peice.

    My questions are:
would a 1GGTE flywheel fit the J160 clutch?
or would the 1GGTE flywheel and clutch fit the j160 box?
or will the J160 friction plate fit in a 1GGTE flywheel and clutch cover set-up?

Or if im completely up the wrong tree, does anywhere do a lightened flywheel for the IS200? i could only find the JUN one, but wondering if there's other options.

please help so i can get rid of this infernal noise from my car.

im playing around with 3tc's hear, i have a J160 box behind a 3t, and i can use 3tc, 3tgte and 1g single peice flywheels with the gear box. i know its no 1g motor but if i can use the same flywheel/clutch setup on the back of mine then im pritty sure u should be right runnin a single peice 1g flywheel/clutch setup and have it clear every thing in the box.

There should be no issue using the 1GGteu flywheel and clutch. 'Cos that is what I have done.

    to the j160 box?
thats excellent news. was worried there would be a different number of splines on the friction plate or something like that.

did it fit straight on? release bearing etc?

    thanks

Thanks for the help with this the clutch and fly fitted perfectly.

unfortunately it wasnt the fly it was the diff causing the noise, but a single piece fly is an improvement on the lexus dual mass one so gained anyway

just an update, finally figured out the cause of my noise.

the magnetic slug from the diff sump plug had come off and was rattling around in the diff! then it was vibrating down the hollow prop to the gearbox making me think it was in that area!

Hey sorry to bring up a dead thread, but I have a question...
I'm in the middle of bolting up a J160 to my 3TGTE but no Idea what clutch kit to buy...
What clutch setup do you use to bolt the J160 to a 3TG flywheel?
Can I just use any 1G setup?
    On the xtreme clutch catalog there are two different clutch kit sizes: 235 x 21 x 29 /or/ 225 x 21 x 29
    The lexus IS2000 is also 225 x 21 x 29

So what friction plate, pressure plate, thrust and spigot bearing do I use???
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers Lewi

Do I need a custom pressure plate?

Use the 3T pressure plate. Just check that the spline on the J160 is the same as the 3T clutch plate. I would be surprised if it was to be different. Remember that you working from the flywheel that you have on the 3T and the only variable related to the J160 is the spline for the clutch plate and the locating bush for the drive shaft in the end of the crank. Again I would be surprised if the bush and the spline are different.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but instead of creating a new one I thought I'd ask here, most my questions seem to be answered here too which is good!

    Two questions:

    1) I have a 1st gen 1G-GTE what flywheel can I use? I am told they are different from the 3rd gen motors and from memory when I researched in the past a 1G-FE has 8 bolts on the crankshaft where as our earlier 1G-GTE's have 6 bolts, I know I can get a new clutch kit with flywheel to suit a IS200 1G-FE but I am 99% sure the flywheel doesn't bolt up to the older motor!

    2) Starter motor? I am going from auto to manual, but of course am going to be running the J160 can I use the same starter motor?

    Cheers

I assume that the gen and gen 2 have the same flywheel. If that is the case a gen 3 flywheel will fit as the difference being the gen 2 is 9 inch and the gen 3 is 9.5 inch. Just use a gen 3 clutch and pressure plate. Starter should be sweet.

Don't know anything about the IS200 clutch.
