272deg Cams, Bigport GE, Stock Comp...Big Improvement!

when i said small port TVIS, i meant it was a bigport, with smallport rocket covers.. which is what toyots released, but in small numbers. NOt sure of the internals but yeah .. i have owned all 3 so i know i little bit bout them all

cam covers - the worst way to determine what a 4AGE is ever.

i think teh colors are different, they are different between my smallport AE92 engine and my mates RWD redtop TVIS engine.

so jezz, they dont have adjustable cams? i think the factory cams have some adjustability (2 positions) but im not sure how they work.

tell craig to run something better than "unpremium" unleaded and you should be able to put more timing in

They dont have adjustable cam gears....i just through them in there in the same positions as the old ones.

GL getting craig to run anything with the word premium in it.

Premium is 5 cents a litre more than standard unleaded! Screw that! hehe

Thanks for the supplying the info Jez, and the use of your shed yet again! and might I mention that I was working under the car like a bitch while jez changed the cams and got all the glory! lol

And yes it was a totally spare if the moment thing, Im taking this particular engine out after next week.

I didnt say anything about smallport with tvis!

I just wanted to know for the third time exactly what setup these cams are in!

The Cams are a Crow Cams item.

The inital timing when installed was 5 Deg BTDC. Ran fine, had no more power, prolly much less. Idle was a bit rude also - too low.

I then upped the timing to the 4AGE factory manual spec of 16 Deg BTDC with testing terminals unbridged.

This is where the tioming sits at the moment.

Will possibly put some more timing into it but for the time being, the idle is great (Phat) the revs are smooth and there is no pre-ignition.

Will keep you posted, seeing as craigs shed is my shed!
