    Default Bellhousing Gasket

    G'day,

Im in the process of putting a JDM 4age bellhousing onto a T-18 T50 and i was just wondering about gaskets.

The bellhousing/gb gasket was toast and fell apart and i was just wondering if good old silicon would do the trick. Ive been caught out leaving gaskets out before on motorbikes (it wouldn't shift ;P) so I'm a bit weary about it these days. The old gasket isn't very thick so I'm not to sure there is much in it. I still have the gasket for under the slide tube which seems a bit thicker.

Any thoughts? or should just stop worrying about it and lather on the silicone

you cant take the bellhousing off and make your own gasket with good ol gasket paper and a ball peen hammer?.... then use a light smear of master gasket and itll never leak...

might take a while but itll be worth the peace of mind

ive done that plenty of times for other things, just not sure if itll suit the gearbox since the old gasket was almost paper thin

I think ill just price up one at a dealer, if thats too much ill make one my self

cool, i thought it would be OK as the gasket is paper thin, the slide tube gasket is a bit thicker and id presume that would have been taken into account when the slide tube pulls up to the bearing, I have one of those intact though

I used RTV on both, absolutely no issues with the T50.
