Default supercharged twin turbo 2jz - lets brainstorm

now.. you may all think im a dickhead but im probly gunna do it "cos i can".. just wanted to maybe have a brain storm with some of the best toyota minds there are...

now what i was thinkin, is the main reason people upgrade to bigger singles, cos its quicker to spool than two big turbos... BUT i was thinkn.. maybe with 2 GT35's with 1.0 rear housings and a top mount supercharger on a custom manifold would make boost pritty much straight away.. ill probly aim for 12psi out of the charger and possibly 18psi out of the turbo chargers..

im thinking this would be pritty insane, and quite different... but like i said, cos i can.... could you guys see any downsides to this besides time and money? bear in mind i have a fully kitted workshop

Im gonna throw this out there and say its a shit idea.
Fair enough on a 1.8-2.0l 4 cylinder maybe but the off boost torque of a 2jz isnt exactly crap and for the tiny amount of lag that you would get with a correctly sized turbo i think it would be a waste of time.........but if its what you want to do go for it and post up your results when your done.

just thought with a charger you could get an even better top end set of turbochargers while the supercharger covers about 4000rpm worth of lag very quickly

Nothing that couldnt be fixed with a stall convertor or cams and a ported head and there would be the issue of the supercharger causing a restriction at higher rpm once the turbos spool.
You would probably be better off trying to sort out a sequential turbo system like the standard 2jz setup but with decent turbos.

yeh i did think about the restriction, i guess your right especially if i wanna pump 20+ psi.... well i may have to let this dream slide for the moment =(

its abit pointless running 2 turbos and a super tho...
you're better off runing a bigger single and a super.

    anyways
i looked into this for a nissan sr20 a while back.
it could probably be done, if you have an eaton style super charger mounted directly onto the bottom half of the plenum, with a clutch bypass. have the turbos before the super...

set it up so that when the turbos start making more boost than the supercharger, the supercharger clutch engages the bypass.... therefore minimising the restriction and letting the big single go to town...

Whipple W140AX for down low, T88 for up high.
Run an clutch on the whipple and an air bypass valve so you can turn it off when the T88 comes on song.

There is no restriction from the SC, think about it

I've done this on my TT UZ....gains were awesome but boost you are left with was a bit scary. Inlet temp control is difficult and the only feasible way to do this well would be to use an efficient twin screw SC.....if you did that then no point even bothering with turbo unless you were chasing 1000+hp

So you want to build a 1400hp 2JZ.

I assume you have a budget for this project which runs into tens of thousands of dollars? And that's just for the engine, not the necessary supporting hardware. Because you're not just wasting everyone's time with starry-eyed fantasies, are you?

have a look at WTF auto's twin sequential setup... one is on a 2j, one is on a avalon motor..

hp outputs around 500rwhp, boost relatively sensible, very little lag..as in 1 bar by 1500rpm..

much easier, safer, smarter way to do it...
