trying to remove RA28 windscreen - chrome trim frustration!

I'm attempting to remove my windscreen, determined to avoid damaging the trim. I read through as many threads as my patience would allow, but am still unsure how these trims are fixed to the moulds.

There are clips under there, my knife gets caught on them..... Which direction should I be prying the trim? Towards the centre of the glass or away?

I've cut around the sides with a stanley knife but the trim still feels really secure....

Any help is muchly appreciated!

Once you hook one pull the clip inwards towards the glass at the same time push the trim down a little the out towards the body.

Once you have one out i like to drag them out rather than un clip them,take eatra care not to scratch you paint when doing this.

It beats bending them hope this helps.

ARRGGHHH! The filth!!! Any tips on getting this stuff off the trims & paintwork? Carby cleaner got most of it off my hands! Ewwwwwwwwwww.....

Hi,

Use DD Eucalyptus oil. It should soften and remove the crap. When done use a damp cloth and wipe off eucalyptus oil that got onto the paint. It shouldn't damage the paint, and I've never had it damage the paint, but I always wipe it off with a damp cloth just to make sure.

DD - Double D - is the brand of oil. I can't see why you cannot use any sort of eucalyptus oil. You can buy it at chemists and maybe Coles/Woolies/IGA/etc.

shewiththe18RG, simply soak a soft cloth with kerosene to clean up the sealant. That is what the windscreen installers use, and at miniscule cost in comparison to eucalyptus oil.

I understand that early model Mustangs have clips of a similar design, so anyone familar with removing a windscreen on a Mustang, would have a clever 'ghetto' tool to do this job.
