home and rpm is ya dizzy signals
ok so this is driving me a little crazy now.
the other day I was taking the car for a drive, nothing too viscious, and after backing off at about 5k rpm the engine made a strange noise, not sure how to explain, but more high pitched deceleration/free revving than usual. anyway I pulled over and the car was slightly hesitant to rev, but then seemed to be ok.
i turned around and headed home, but something was not right, engine was rough, back/misfiring sounding generally wrong. the problem was getting progressively worse untill I pulled over and the car stalled. I was not able to start it again.
had to be towed home, and I had a good look around as to what the problem may be, I figured fuel/ignition or vacuum.
now there is one hose at the back of the head I am not sure what it is, I dont remember seeing it before, it is not the iscv, but just behind that, roughly same diameter hose, and it isnt connected to anything, I thought perhaps it had come off from its home, but coudlnt find any home for it.!?
edit* ok had a bit of a look, and it is apparently it is the iscv hose that attatches to the standard air box. as I have open throttles is this meant to go anywhere.?
I tried starting the car with this blocked, no luck.
checked coils, have power.
checked fuel, is present.
took out and cleaned plugs.
now after I cleaned the plugs the car started and seemed to run fine for a little, then had the same problem untill it finally died again.
the ecu (microtech ltx8) after I got it started was showing a red light on the side of the box for error.
and the handset was telling me error chk 1
hom>err
rpm>err
anyone have any insight?

i dont have a funny or cool signature.
so, as I am not running a distributor, would that mean that my crank/cam angle sensor is dead?
yes well thats what the errors are
i think its the blue yellow red and white wire from ecu

Try playing around with the wires. Mabe you have dodgey connection and when you took out plugs you knocked the wires back into contact with each other! Its rare for a crank angle sensor to fail on one of these engines ( but not impossible )

Not entirely too unlikely, but the likely one as 30psi says is that the wiring is out. The CAS wires are notoriously small and fiddly to crimp at the best of times, and when you have an aftermarket ECU (as i assume you do with the hand controller) then it is quite possible that the installer didnt crimp them properly (as happened with mine).

I just checked the wiring for the CAS, and there does not seem to be a problem. all three wires are soldered and heat shrunk.
could the soldering be a problem, as opposed to crimping? as most of the wiring connections in my car are soldered.
Yeah, quite commonly solder will crack, this is especially a problem under high vibration and high heat conditions. These conditions tend to be fairly similar to the inside of an engine bay funnily enough.

fark..
im running out of wire on the CAS plug!
but is the wire soldered in the engine bay or in the cabin? I thought that most people would take it from the ecu end as it is shorter, easier etc.
Welcome to the usual problem.

yes it is soldered in the engine bay, there was originally only about 10cm of wire on the plug when i first got the loom, during the install it diminished somewhat trying to work out the right configuration.
ok I am 98.5% sure it is not the wiring.
anyone have any other ideas, before I try and track down another cas/?
sometimes it will start and run, but after say 30seconds die, most of the time it will not start at all.
