Do you need enginers cert? How hard is it to find a 18rg?
No same capacity you should just need to fill out a change of engine number engine number will still be 18rXXXXXXXX, literally hundreds have been fitted to first gen celicas all legal

Finding an 18RG is a matter of haunting the forums, ebay, and car club events.
They are about, its just a matter of time.
A Corona would be an excellent sleeper fitted with an 18RG, would surprise more than a few at the lights!
sure would! i may still keep mine if the 1g doesnt end up going in but yeh finding a motor is the tricky part
RT104 with 4AGTE
Some assembly required
18rg variants are always available on this forum. From fully built, to needing rebuilding at different stages. Maybe $400- to $1500 fully rebuilt one.
See the this tread for all details re 18rg to geu's.

Hi Mate,
Im in the process of doing exacly this, fitting an 18rgu to an RT132 Corona.
It looks a little different to yours as I'm using an '81 front end on a '79 body, but everything bolts up the same.
I reccomend changing the water pump and timing components before you drop the new motor in, as per any motor swap.
Let me know if you have any parts, I am slowly stripping the 81' and getting rid of the body
Kind regards,
Ryan
