    Default 4agze with sc14

    Hello,

I am wondering what sc14 are you guys using? from Previa or Soarer?
In USA, its easier to get a previa sc14. Are there anyone selling brackets for sc14?

    Thank you

in aus the soarer (1g) type is the common one. it is quite easy to modify the 4age bottom mount to suit this s/c.

The other type of s/c - your previa type (typically found off diesel motors here) is much harder to fit - the bottom mounts are much further out - you'd pretty much have to make your own brackets from scratch to make it work (i have one here at work i looked at & discarded it as being too much work). much easier to use the 1g type.

lots of bits have to be modified to make the sc14 work on a 4age - however it is a worthwhile conversion, it makes good power

What do you need to do to the bottom mount (1g sc14)? But 1g sc14 needs to modify the pulley, right?
Does anyone sell 1g sc14 and willing to ship to USA?

the mod depends on exactly how you will mount the supercharger, but typically you need to slice about 5mm off the back edge of the bracket to allow the 1g sc14 to fit. as for modifying the pulley - that will depend on the alignment you are using on your supercharger. if you have a firewall etc in the way you need to mount the s/c as far back as possible & therefore will need to regrove the pulley. it really depends on the car it's going into. top mount will be totally custom .

look on ebay for the sc. there was a guy in the usa who is a turbo/ s/c specalist who has had them before. i'll look up his details if you are keen.

hiro - not sure the engine designation (some form of Y series), but it is occasionally found in a tarago / hiace van thingy.

The Y-series is a petrol motor. You sure you're not getting confused with the 2TZ-FZE, which is the supercharged version of the Tarago 2.4L (and where "Previa" SC14s come from)

This is the supercharger I can get; it came off from a chaser.

The set up is going onto AE86 so I dont have any firewall problem.
I have noticed that the pulley has place for sc belt.

    My questions are:
Will I be able to mount that sc easier compare to sc14 from Previa?
Will I still need to modify the charger pulley?
I want to keep ABV and without shaving the intake manifold mount.

that is the correct supercharger. do you have access to a set of sc12 manifolds? as that will help with the fabrication

I do have sc12 manifold..my current set up is all stock AE92 4agze.

Will I need to shave my sc12 lower bracket so I can push the sc14 forward? I got the information from this post.

Firstly, when I mounted the sc14 on the lower bracket, even with the spacer washer in place, the pulley was still sitting too far back for the belt to line up. So with a little guidance from Adsport, I grinned into the lower bracket, about 4mm, to allow the charger to move further forward.

This meant that there was no need to fully remove the front bottom bolt hole of the suction pipe.

I also made a small bracket to hold the dipstick in place.

    Finished result looks like this;

Yes you would need to shave some of the lower bracket, If you look at the last pic, you can see there has been 2 or 3 extra ribs machined into the outer end of the sc pulley, there is enough metal still there to machine possibly 2 more ribs into that pully, but only if you wanted to set the sc back even more, which would mean you would have to remove the RH lower mounting point for the intake pipe.

is it possible not to alter the pulley? I dont need to set the supercharger back because I dont think I will have the problem of supercharger hitting fire wall (engine is in AE86). I prefer to mount the supercharger further away from intake manifold so I can keep the ABV.
Alright, if I want to keep the ABV, I would need to shave the sc12 lower bracket so I can push the sc14 forward. Will I still need to machine the pulley if I push the sc forward?

Thank you Alex for answering my questions.

the first sc14 conversion i did without machining the pulley. the last 2 have both had the pulley machined (firewall access) you will not have that problem. Be aware if you don't want to machine the pulley, the s/c needs to be moved about another 10mm to line up with the belts.
