Bavarian is good service is fecking slow and the staff probably aren't as friendly as Lowenbrau. In saying that the vibe from the Lowenbrau staff wasn't hugely great at our last visit anyway.

Been there plenty of time for work lunches. If you are prepared to wait for food its awesome ie allocate a couple hours to drinking before needing to eat. We had a 2 hour lunch their once and food was served at about 1 hour 30 in.

In summary they have better food & a much larger range of beers then Lowebrau you just have to be prepared to wait for said food.

I remember when I went to the Belgian Beer Cafe with my brother for my birthday this year that the service was pretty good/fast - first beer was poured within 10 minutes of seating (Duvel), meals were ordered and arrived before the beer was finished, second beer (Chimay Blue) was poured at dessert ordering and was still half-full when it arrived. Was driving home later that night so 2 was my limit

In saying that it wasn't _terribly_ busy, the bar had quite a few patrons but the tables were probably 75% full. And I'm prepared to wait a bit longer for better food if the beer is that good (although nothing wrong with litre steins of Lowenbrau, it's been one of my standard drinking beers for a long time

Talking about Bavarian Bier Cafe not Belgian. I'm yet to go to Belgian, perhaps worth a visit if they have Chimay.

    Stupid-cafes-having-initial-words-both-starting-with-B-and serving-good-food-and-beer...

Up here we're lucky to have bottle-shops which carry the good beer, let alone cafes dedicated to serving them and traditional accompanying cuisine, so you can forgive my err.

But yes, Belgian Beer Cafe is awesome, massive range of beer and they pour it for you at your table (can go to bar too). That, and they have mussels, which is probably the only time you'd ever get me to eat mussels.
