OMG... that was one of the biggest nights I've had in a while... and I was completely sobre!! (designated decoy)
Was great catching up / meeting all you crazy drunk people though...

I really didn't think St Pat's actually closed!

Edit: I'll have to have a chat with Lowenbrau about the lack of games. Was highly disappointing!

Look forward to their response, IMO the octoberfest games are what differentiates Lowenbrau from any other venue in the city. One of the guys at work used to manage the Surf Rock at Collaroy said they have been pushing the limits of their liquor license by having the skulling comp for years albeit with non-alcoholic beer. But I don't see any reason why any of the other games couldn't continue.

The rivalry and interaction with other tables is always great not to mention the resulting laughs.

I must say in general it didn't seem as festive as previous events there, the lederhausen's were no longer staff attire and they have increased their prices quite substantially as well.

None of this effected the result of the night which was still great but I'd be hesitant to go back there in future with my mates because it now doesn't have the amusement factor to warrant paying the more for a drink.

That's basically what I said to them in my e-mail... that the games were what made us choose the 'brau. Otherwise we may as well go to the belgian bier cafe, which has a much larger variety of beer.

And agree - even sans sculling comp, the games are important!

Agree that the games is the reason the 'brau was chosen in the past.

If you want great beer, you go to the Belgian, if you want great braviarian food I'd personally recommend Assen (on Broadway)... well Austrian food anyway but they do much the same menu as the 'brau.

The 'brau has reasonable beers but both myself and Rona noticed the $2-3 increase in prices of 1L beers in 12 months. The food however in nothing great and the portions seem to get smaller and more poorly prepared every year.

In spite of all that though, the company was awesome and is what is really important in making a great night out, which it was

Twas a great night by all, well I certainly enjoyed it.
Slept clean through all of the cops in Sydney heading for Oxford St too despite only staying 2 blocks away...

And I agree with the sentiment about the games. If they're not going to have them, I'm sure we can find better food and beer elsewhere.

Stitty, I'd love to know exactly what issue the "bouncer" had about you skulling a beer (if you remember that is)

I remember talking a lot of bollocks to anyone who'd listen (sorry Greg/Dav/Crystal!) but the detail is all pretty fuzzy... Garth & I got stuck into pre-emptive beroccas when we got back to my place which definitely helped but yesterday was still a snooze-fest.

    Fantastic night as always!

Well it was a great night out.

All was well however as said before a little boring due to the lack of games.

Food and company was great as usual we had 31 people rock up and have a great night.

Due to the lack of games we decided to arrange a skulling comp with a nearby table. Was just about to get it going when I got the tap on the shoulder. "Sorry no skulling comps". After a bit of a debate and the security guard not backing down. The other party left and I decided to skull my drink anyway, that disappeared and then I got, "I told you not to skull," "You said no skulling comps" "you skulled" "no I didn't I just drank my drink quickly" "your still out" Then from over my shoulder "Stitt's getting kicked out where leaving" Just so we could leave in a hurry I necked the only beer left on the tables a almost full 1/2 stein and walked out. So some how managed to drink 4L of beer with about 1.7L of that getting skulled over 3 different drinks.

On getting out the cream from desert didn't quite agree with all the beer and had a really quick small chuck and it was on with the night, aparently???

Jacksons was chockers and then we headed to St Pat's, I don't really remember being there yet some how remembered the bus time and number and got my ACT loving girl through Sydney on a bus and home.
