I had that number written down on a piece of paper, but no description, so had no idea what it was for

I got mine on Ebay for $110 inc delivery from NZ, same part number as said above. I think the guy is still advertising them.

Did you ever get this flat spot fixed?
Mine's got a slight issue that requires extra throttle when the car is cold.

No, kinda trying to ignore it. I was going to put it on a dyno and see what they find but, $300 just to do a few runs!! I don't think its an engine issue, it revs great and pulls strong. I'll try and describe the problem as precisely as I can so if anybody reads this they might help. Car pulls great from first from idle to redline if hammering it, but in 2nd and 3rd if the car is sitting on 2000-2500 rpm then I plant it the revs get to just over 3000rpm then the revs actually drop by 200-300 rpm for about 1-2 seconds before gaining momentum again. The car is still building speed when this happens but not at the rate before 3000rpm and certainly not beyond 3500. Maybe auto gearbox is slipping, but I would have thought the revs would flare up not drop?? I'ts really annoying cause my fuel consumption is shocking cause I'm constantly flogging it to avoid revs around 3000

It does sound like a trans issue, not engine

That sucks, as 3k-4k is a really useful rev range for our engine.

What do you mean by "getting it".
Are you refering to the issue you have or you have just purchased the car?

Have you checked to see if your spark plugs were gapped properly during service, are you using the correct oil.

Also have you looked at the gearbox oil, is it burnt in colour/smell, if not change the box oil anyway. i think theres a write up about how to change the oil on a A340e box by "1JZ 747", which you should be able to adopt to a front wheel/4wd box with a cooler.

Yeah, only had the car a month or so, didn't really think too much of the flat spot when bought it. I just figured it would be something easy to rectify. oops. Can anyone tell me what an auto transmission service actually does besides putting in fresh fluid. Someone suggested i get the trans serviced.

Some transmissions also have a filter in them to replace. Not sure if yours does.

Got the transmission serviced, bit of sludge but not bad, the gearbox is not my issue! Car still has same issue. Must be engine. Bugger.
