    Default 1ggte wiring conversion help!

    Hey guys,

Ive done a lot of research on how to convert the engine loom, ive searched the website up and down... although the threads have come up successful, all the Links posted are broken (Cannot display page).

I was wondering if anyone has a diagram or sketch tips hints anything that can help me do the wiring conversion, if you can post a fresh link to help me out would greatly be appreciated. Also any help on wiring up the alternator regulator to the ta23.

Im doing the conversion on a TA23. Thanks alot guys

    Try http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.p...t=0#msg_694743

and this one took a while but I found it
    http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.p...rt=0#msg_93797

There was also a wealth of information in the repository on the old toymods site. I did ask for it to be transferred but can't seem to find it, however this may be of some help

...alternator regulator is incoprotated into the 1ggte's alternator....
...depends what parts are you trying to use?

Ive converted the supra loom to take celica fittings for things like indicators etc, and just retrofitted the stalks...(not hard)

i was reading the thread on the SP1 (the speedo signal) and just wanted to know how people went about solving this problem? did you all use the speedo from an ra60?

Are you running a manual or an auto behind the 1gg?

I have only had a manua,l and from what I can determine the only impact is for the ECU light to come on reporting an error that the engine has rev'ed above (I think its) 3500 without the vehicle being mobile. Not sure whether the auto used the speed sensor. When I was using the factory computer I had installed the GA70 speedo in my TA23 so had the speed signal avaliable.

did you only change the speedo or did you change both the speedo and the revs?

i wired mine up back in the day... no speed sensor - this also means no speed cut (gen 3 manual). so simply used the factory celica speedo - which screwed into the box and read fine.
I had my factory celica tacho modified by a guage specialist here in newcastle to read correctly for a 6cyl, and to take the higher output power of the tacho signal - apparently...

IIRC, the GA70's had a mechanical drive speedo, and you just leave the SP1 wiring out. If you can be more specific about the problem you've got, I can try to rack my brain a bit more

I used both the GA70 speedo and tacho. Have sinced put the ta23 speedo back in.

The GA70 does use a mechanical speedo, however on the back of the speedo there is a small inductive device (electro-mechanical) that produces a 'speed sensor' pulse output for the ECU. 'Spose the GA70 could have had the 180kph speed cut.

    Just read responses better.

I used the GA70 tacho so that the 'turbo' light worked. I did have the original TA23 tacho recalibrated for a 6 cylinder, but decided not to use it. Building the GA70 tacho into the instrument cluster was a bit interesting but provided a larger scale and it still looks good.

Again I used the GA70 speedo so that I could also have the ECU light and not have it provide an error message. But if you don't want it just ignore the connection. Your original speedo should work a treat.

On the initial install I made a effort to have everything work like factory. Not really an issue now as I have moved a long away from that.

so what ive read so far. if i ignore the SP1 it should run sweet. the reason why i asked this is because i read somewhere where the car didnt run good because the car was in "limbo mode" or something like that.

am i on the right track by thinking that?

...I believe you are...I havnt havnt had that problem yet...but im using the ga70 dash as well....you may have to earth the SP1 pin to keep it happy....it seems to be the answer to most problems with fault detection in jap cars (nissans at least)
