    Default sticky acellerator pedal

    hi everyone

having an issue with my 86 hiace van

the accelerator sticks to the floor and then slowly pops back. a couple of google searches say that it could be the butterfly valve clogged with gunk, do i have to take off the carby to get at the valve to give it a clean. or can i spray some of the carby cleaner in it and hope it moves it.

is there any other reason that this might happen. i haven't had a chance to take the cable off and try pushing the valve by hand to see if that is the problem.

which if that isn't the case it could come down to the accelerator cable or the kick down cable. just wondering what i should try and look for when i get a decent chance to go over it?
As they say in the book, assembly is the reverse of dismantling, but slower cos you forgot where all the bits are

You son't need to pull much apart to get to the carby butterfly in those vans. Lift the seats, unscrew the intake pipe from the top of the carb and there you are. Some carb cleaner would be a good start.

Also the throttle cable is easily accessible too in the bay, it runs across the top of everything, so you could try removing the carby end and seeing if it is jammed up.

Can't help on the kickdown cable as I've never played with an auto.

I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.
Drift Volvo. Was fun. 2JZ next time.

The the butterfly and throttle linkage components. Start the engine and use the carb cleaner so it can burn it out as you spray it.
