Default Hydraulic hand brake - your opinions??

I'm putting a disc brake rear an AE71, I have to do a hand brake mod of some kind...(either swapping in AE86 GTS hand brake mount, OR using a hydraulic handbrake) The amount of work seems to be more or less the same..... The hydraulic handbrake trades the cables and the funky mechanisim on the rear calipers, for a set-up that holds pressure on the rear lines.

Is a hydraulic hand brake anything more then a clutch M/C attached to a hand brake handle/ratchet mechanism???

Would a line lock(drag racer device) work? Can it be used on the rear brakes, and can it work when the car is off?

Hydraulic handbrake as the only handbrake is not a safe option, they simply aren't designed to permanently retain pressure. In NZ for example you can get your (race) car legal for road use only if you also carry wheel chocks in the vehicle or have a backup cable system. Ask yourself this, if you left it parked on a hill are you confident it would be there when you got back? What if it was parked there for a week?
