Bump this up and im in the middle of a 1J conversion into a S1 also.
Anyone????
also psyco, what engine and gearbox mount are you using? And the tail shaft also?
Hey Guys
Getting very close to finishing off my 2nd X90 > x83 1JZ conversion with auto transmission.
The last one I did was S2 with electronic dash & ABS but this time the body is S1 and has cable driven speedo & no ABS. I have dropped the standard speedo sender and put the cable drive into place.
I'm having a problem with the car taking off from a complete stop. When in the D range of the transmission it doesn't seem to select 1st gear. If I shift it manually into L it goes perfectly but left in D it is trying to launch in what I think is 2nd gear.
I have found info regarding the speed sensors for the auto's being different between ABS & non ABS equipped cars so have pulled the original speed sendsor from the original box (the onle that bolts in under the cable drive mount.
Should I swap this over?
Any other idea's what might be causing my prob.
Cheers
Brad

bump again, well im having this problem now lol. anyone sorted it yet?
one way i was considering to remedy this problem was by using a manual shift box, except it would have to be in constant full manual mode.
this can be rigged to the curise cont lever for stock lookingness.
im sure paddles such as works bell ones could also work fine for the shifting,
there are dedicated auto ecu shifting controllers, i think that (forget his nsame) used one in project sleeper, but i think they where expensive.
or these the other obvious way around it, swap to MT
i myself am going the MT route, hopefully i can get something to work for the speedo with a digital dash
