OK, I am just curious. How do you guys feel about stuff that obviously has a copyright, but is impossible for most people to get their hands on as it is a jap car dvd or one that has even been out of production. These are pretty car related and important to enthusiast.
eg. the dvd with the clip of the 13b ae86 which a couple of people own that I can't find anywhere to purchase.

it is relatively easy to get your hands on japanese DVD's. get title and as much info as possible, take it to your local Kinokunia (at least in Syd and Melbourne i think) and get them to order it in.Originally Posted by no_tofu_speed
thing is, in japan, DVD's are expensive.. typically $60+.
send me a title, send me money for DVD + post, i send you DVDfor the one you are talking about.. sayyy $80-100?
"important to enthusiast" ??? it's eye candy at best, in no way is it important.
as for out of production, thats where Amazon is good, they have huge listings of secondhand goods also.
if you can't get your hands on it and it was made after colour TV/video was invented, you are not looking hard enough.
as for things shown on TV like.... say a grandprix or random TV show (ie not movie) not sure how that works.
maybe there is a difference between watching non-downloadable short clips (which may be ok under copywrite as for as you are concerned?? not sure) and posting links to cracked versions/pirated copies etc....

The usual bit is that up to 5% or so of a copyright owned material is ok for research purposes.
So say for researching intake tract lengths it might be ok to copy a page or two of material from your textbook for your personal use.
The dicey part comes when re-distribution is involved...
