    Default TA22 Exhaust Extractors

    Hi All,
Have a choice to make and I have no idea which is better but that is what the forum is for!!

TA22 with 2TG pretty stock standard engine as far as I know.

    Choice of exhaust between

    4-2-1 with 2 inch exhaust
    4-1 with 2.5 inch exhaust

Which one and why? Do the different extractors make that much difference? Sort of related and another quesiton .....What about the wall thickness of extractors?

    Thanks

    Nathan

the 4-2-1 will give you better low to mid range torque..
the 4-1 will give you better upper rpm torque but will not have much guts before 2500rpm..

    (fairly sure that's right)

4-2-1 with 2 or 2 1/4 inch exhaust is what you want for street. You will have the response and torque you need. I won't go into too much detail here about primary and secondary lengths and diameters etc. so keep in mind that the internal diameter of the pipes and their lengths make a difference. If possible get mandrel bent pipes so the exhaust gasses aren't restricted around turns and when routed over the diff.

Waste of money getting a mandrel-bent system (that isn't for FI or requires 3" piping) on just a street car. 2" is fine, your motor isn't particularly revvy.
The above opinion is just that - my opinion. It is not shared by any business that I am currently or have previously been involved with, nor any of their employee's.

There is a difference between mandrel bent pipes and a mandrel bent system.

I would say that 4-2-1 would suit you if the car was a daily driver.

Like mentioned before, 4-1 is for a torque up higher in the rev range... 2tgs sound awesome when they wind up, so that might suit you!

I too have a 2tg that has had quite a bit of work done to it and I still opted for a 4-2-1... and I opted for 2.5" pipe all the way to tip...

I definitely noticed the difference in low end torque...

    Nick.
