Sounds like you need a new battery.
If you leave car batteries flat for some time (or if they are just old), they degrade and wont hold charge anymore.
Hi,
Was looking for some advice on a jumpstarter?
What size should I get to troubleshoot a 4 cyl celica motor?
I am currently using a battery but have only a very limitted life?
Perhaps a new battery??? as I dont want to drive the car to the shed every time I want to try to start the car.
Incidentally the engine hasn't ever run so I could be troubleshooting for a while!
Thanks
Nathan

Oh yeah I def. need a new battery but given the car doesn't start and has no alternator at the moment...... Still after a jumpstarter!!
Need something to turn the engine over while I diagnose!! and the 2 mins at a time battery I currently have is beginning to sh#t me.
well there ya problem, no alternator
how are you going to keep it running with no alternator?
Yes that is a problem.....the alternator. It also has no windows so if I get it going I will get bugs in my mouth.....but a larger problem is that the engine wont even close to start making my alternator and windows the least of my problems... the alternator just gets in the way when I have to take the engine out and put it in and given I have only got a bell housing on the engine and there is no gearbox I probably have to take the engine out one more time??
incidentally I have no cooling either so wouldn't want to run it for any more than a few seconds..... I have a spark and fuel will be sprayed in the carbies....
I am not really looking for a problem with my engine yet...... Just looking for something to help start it to see if I have a problem.
Can I even run with just a battery??????
An engine will still run without an alternator, until the battery dies.
Those jump starter packs you can get dont allow you to crank very long and then they need to be charged for a few hours as well.
A new battery will last more than two minutes, I suggest you get a new battery and then charge it so its always ready for use. (Should get a fair few cranks out of a new battery)

...bugger...you could have had my alternator..i just threw it in the trash!!
Rotaries are cool...so why are their owners such cocks>>?
Exactly the info I was looking for 7M... Thanks
Will go get a new battery today.
P.S. Cant rep you again until I spread some more around!! Doh!!
Consider a battery charging unit, can pick them up from Bunnings for between $17 and $50...you pay more for an automatic unit so it doesn't overcharge, plus bigger amperage for shorter recharge time. Leave the battery on charge each night, and don't kill the battery by trying to crank it to the point of uselessness.
