cant think of anything your doing wrong, you just lossen the tentioner and put the belt on.
around crank then firmly over the exhaust cam, over the inlet cam then past the tentioner and then tention it up.
i dont have a funny or cool signature.

The way we did it on Kyle's and mine was that the tensioner spring is supposed to hold the timing belt at the correct tension once the timing belt is on properly, then you tighetn the nut that goes through the centre of the tensioner and that's it. Are you using a new tensioner and spring or the old one. The old spring may have lost some of its tensioning ability or whatever. In any case you should check the timing belt for flex and adjust tension to suit

What exactly did you want to see in the engine bay? These are the pics I have of when mine was n/a

edit; the bgb is available online though i dont remember where. i have it as a zip file. it's 78mb so i can send it to you through msn but not email.

and i hear ya about BHG 4A's

Firstly you don't tension the belt up to tighten the tensioner bolt... You should have locked off (pry it as far left as it will go) the tensioner before you put the belt on, then fit the belt. AFter you have the belt in position you release the bolt and the spring holding the tensioner will put tension back on the belt. . . Then you re-torque the tensioner bolt.

what mr2_gze is describing is correct.

Push the tensioner pulley towards the water pump as hard as you can (pry bar) and tighten it.

Put the timing belt on and then loosen the tensioner.

Adjust tensioner to correct tension and tighten.
