Default MA70 rear strut measurements needed

im looking for a replacement for the celsior airbag struts.

does anyone have a MA70 rear strut laying around that they can take 2 measurements?

    1. from the top hat (contact face to chassis) to the centre of the bush where it bolts to the upright. (measurement X)

    2. the distance between 2 of the studs in the top hat. i assume its a 3 bolt pattern like all other toyotas ive seen. since the PCD is hard to measure directly, the distance between 2 adjacent bolts will suffice - i can compare to struts i have. (measurement Y)

here is the measurements i am referring to.

much appreciated if someone could check!

    regards,
    brett

Yeah, its 3 bolt. I can measure up some Koni shortstroke ones if you want.

    thanks all,

this is a supra and celsior front strut so its very slightly different however it still shows the dimensions i need.

they would need to be measured with a strut removed from the car or the car jacked up so the strut is at full droop.

thanks takai, take a measurement if you dont mind just for reference however id ideally like to compare factory length struts to start with!

tascressida, mate taking those measurements for me would be really handy.

    cheers,
    Brett

Took measurements of spare MX83 strut in lounge room.

    X:585mm
Y:If you consider the three bolts as a,b and c .The distance between (a) and (b) and (b) and (c) is 100mm...But the distance between (a) and (c) is 107mm.

Im guessing this is so they can be fitted one way only.

I can take off my rear shelf and measure my fitted ones to determine which way the odd measurment faces if you need that.

    Hope this helps.

    thanks for that.

sadly the celsior measures in at about 640mm for the x measurement.

so back to the drawing board for now

MA70 is the same length, if not shorter. Common conversion for short stroke/stiffer shocks in the rear of a MX83.

    weird....

i measured the LS400/celsior strut length with the car settled and its about 550mm (x measurement). my observation of the car in this position is that it is about 50mm higher then it needs to be...

this means that the MX83 option may actually work, sitting the car in a much lower static position.

the other thing that crossed my mind is that this also means that the front struts are very close to fitting in the rear..... maybe not the best option but a last resort.
