Default EMS 8860 or Haltech E6X?

    Gday,

I cany afford another SM4 for my second project, so I'm looking for a cheaper ECU for the track car.

Having read up on both of these units it seems functionality is quite similar (albeit the EMS ECU has more outputs 8/8 vs 4/4).

Has anyone got any experiences with either they'd like to share? Can anyone recommend any other ECUs at ~$1000 that arent Microtech or Power FC?

I've been looking into ECU's at this price to replace my Microtech and have settled on the Adaptronic unit.

Check out the specs and software, it does a hell of a lot and from all reports it does it quite well.

What do you want out of the ecu?
Outside of fuel/ignition, what do you want it to control?
Boost controller, VVTi, water injection, etc

Ok, so the enigine is a 2jz, and the control needed is really just fuel, ignition and potentially intercooler water spray (dedicated track car)

I know all these units will do what I want, but I also know that on paper performance and real-life execution are often two different animals...

im happy with my e6x, its easy to use and theres plenty of people out there who like to tune them.
Haltech them selve's are great to deal with and are happy to help ya.

it does everything i want, next week im getting antilag and flat shift control set up for my car.

you have your pwm's and other outputs, like i dont want to use an output for my antilag but it will let me select some value's like rpm/temp and vacuum together it will turn antilag on.
its bloody easy to install and tune.

i was happy with my microtech aswell but all it did was run a basic car.
i dont have a funny or cool signature.

OK, so if I needed, which one will run Toyota VVTi the best? (VVTi 1J in particular)

The EMS and Haltech say they will sort of...

Yeah, was just doing some more reading, apparently only the E11v2 abd the new P2000 will do VVTi, the E6X only does on/off cam control (like vtec)

I've been informed that the platinum works well with the vvti, the E11v2 not so well...

The adaptronic can control the vvti quite well, even does a good job with dual vvti on the beams 3S.
