On the LTX-8 there is a tacho outup on the frist loom it should be blue and white.

i want to hook up the tacho in my ae71, i can work out all the wiring and stuff easily but what do i hook the sender up to to get a tacho signal? im using 4 bosch coil packs and the internals of the standard dizzy for crank angle sensor. im running a microtech LTX-8

Easiest/Nastiest way is to link all the coils together with diodes and use that to operate the original tacho.

That tacho output will be 5V square wave. You will need a converter circuit to make it work with the AE71 dash. Search for ZE into AE86, the required circuit should turn up.
However Shinny's idea is just as easy and gives a less sluggish tacho in my opinion.

i think that is the one.
I have the same setup Dom and am about to try one of these options to get my tacho working. will see how it goes!
Dom, I've still got my one made by Sideshow that I used on my 20V/LTX-8 setup. Come pick it up whenever.

We'll sort out a method of... errr... payment when you come and get it.Originally Posted by Dom-AE71

I might even fix your horn for you too, seeing as you're too retarded to do anything yourself![]()
This would, of course, carry an additional fee though. I'd brace myself if I was you - I'm toey-er than a Roman sandal!![]()
jeremy,
would you be able to perhaps take a photo, or give me some information on the circuit you have there.
is it similar to the circuit outlined in that other thread?
or linking all four coil wires via diodes?'
thanks.
oh and how accurate was it?

I wouldn't have a clue about it, apart from the fact that it looks just like a relay.
Anyway, as far as I know it was very accurate.
haha jeezzz mate i think i got the horn issue sorted
