    Default 18RG plumbing

Hi all, I am in the final stages of my new Running gear overhaul. just about everything is in the car and i am now doing the final things before i start up. My problem is the motor i bought was missing some of the essential stuff, so i had no reference when i rebuilt it. I am up to the final plumbing on the motor and have no idea what pipes go where. most we have figured out from the green toyota 18R book but their are a few i have no idea. They are

    - A small 'L' shaped metal tube that comes out of the block just below the forward carby.
    - Also the spout on the top of the rocker cover between the two central pistons.

    See pic

I need to know where they go and is there anything special i have to put in. where to get said item and how much would be great.

I was speaking to Ian from the celica club he told me his rocker cover one ran to a oil an oil catch can then to some point somewhere else.

Both of those tubes are for the same thing.
They are positive crankcase ventilation outlets.
The top tube is supposed to plumb into the air filter so that the air goes back into the intake. This tube is best going through an oil catch can, otherwise it will oil up your filters badly.
The bottom tube is supposed to go into one of the two tubes that comes from the bottom of the balance tube for the same prupose. This tube does not normally go through an oil catch can.

It would not be a bad thing to put both tubes through a catch can and then into the air filter. That is how I would do it.

    Hi,

The pipe coming out of the rocker cover usually gets plumbed back into the inlet manifold on the stock set-up to suck in and burn away the oil fumes.

However, you can whack a filter-breather over it. Be warned though that over time oil will come out of the breather and onto the rocker cover, so you'll have occasionally wipe it clean.

The L-shaped thing I cannot remember.

However, check these images out. They are not 56k friendly, but hopefully will help you out.

I don't know what regulations are like in Victoria, but in South Australia, if you've got a breather filter on a PCV system outlet, you're going to get defected instantly. Best to plumb it back into the inlet system.
