Also if I can't work that out do you think the supra stick I have just read about would woo on my application to get around the issue?
Hey guys.
I have recently brought a MX83 Cressida running the 1jz vvti with an auto out of the jzx100. I believe it's a a341. ID plate says 30-41 Ls I think it was. Anyway I am running the stock shifter from the crezzy and I am led to believe that the overdrive was meant to have been wired up but the old owner could never get it working. This has never been an issue until it comes time to Dyno tune the car. It keeps kicking back to second gear rather aggressively and wants to lift off the Dyno. Can someone enlighten me as to how the overdrive or shift lock works so I can get it to hold third gear.
The old owner thought it may have something to do with the traction control not working also?
Any ideas would be awesome.
Thanks in advance.

Are you running the vvti shifter or the mx83 shifter
It is running the Mx83 stock shifter. Not sure if the Jzx one would fit in there.
use original mx83 overdrive button to trigger a relay to then send 12s to the "3" wire
When you say 3rd wire! Where do I find it. Off the gearbox loom or ecu given that its an electronic controlled gearbox.
find the ecu pinouts and one wire is called "3"
And then that should hold third on the Dyno you think.
Thanks for the info.
probably not on the dyno
auto trans are a pain on the dyno
hooking up that wire will just turn overdrive on and off
if the dyno guys dont know how ot drive an auto on the dyno then take it elsewhere
i know sometimes u need to do run in 2nd gear
or maybe do it in 3rd but dont accelerate to much till up in the revs and speed which doesnt give u good result
there is no real way to lock some electronic autos in 3rd
so u might have to just put gear lever in 2nd and do run in 2nd
or do it in 3rd but higher speed
anyway while driving it on the street does it feel like it changes gears at correct time
or does it short change
also do u have kickdown wire fitted
id have to look at my diags to see if they run a kd wire but if its hooked up maybe unplug it
Yeah in the street it kicks back fine and changes at 7k rpm roughly. Seems to drive normal althought the power and overdrive button seems to not change anything. Still drives fine.
