W55 with remote shift

Hello all, i have just converted my uzz30 soarer to manual using a gx71 w55 and jza80 remote shift.

First problem i had was i had to use a 5mm spacer between the gearbox and top shifter housing as the nylon selector ball bottomed out on the horizontal shifter bar that runs through the box.

Got that sorted all good, welded some bungs on the side for the remote brackets.

My main problem is that i cannot select 1st, 2nd or 5th.
2nd, 4th and reverse select fine.

When i push the stick forward to select the top 3 gears it will creep slightly when i release the clutch but it pops out of gear straight away.

I am assuming that it just isnt engaging the gear and i need to figure out a way to get the horizontal shaft to move back further when i push the gearstick forward so i can select these gears.

Convert to auto. much simpler OR Buy a remote shift box OR conver back to standard type shifter with a gooseneck.
Sounds as though you have lost some of the throw of the shifter buy adding that spacer, try shifting it without the spacer and see if it selects gears.

I also don't understand why you needed the 5mm spacer.

Did you use the shifter shaft that goes into the rear extension housing from the remote shifter gearbox?

The remote shifter shaft has the threaded hole for the bolt to secure the part with the tang that goes between the restrictor pins in a different spot... maybe this is your problem?
