Thank for the feedback guys, it's just what I was after, I need some reasoning to weigh up my options. JP I think I may in fact just do as you said and get it uprated if I can. Now I just have to get a good quality clutch plate.

riderzx10r: I'm in a hurry so I can't search for you but try searching for 4AGTE clutch on here, there was some talk about multi-plate setup in a couple of the threads from memory.

I was told by Exedy that the HD PP is 127% of clamping force of the OEM PP.

Yup, and have nothing bad to say about them.
They are incredibly helpful when doing custom installs, odd combinations, etc both on the phone and at the sales counter.

I took my alloy race components flywheel into them (i had no idea what clutch would fit it).
About 1hr later after the guy measured everything, got opinions from a few other guys, looked around for parts, i took home a 1200kg 5 puck ceramic clutch. Quite happy.

I also took a Tilton hydraulic clutch release bearing into them, wanting a new seal kit.
Again after ~30mins going through catalogues, etc they found it, and had one in stock

I had an extreme clutch in my 1JZ MZ20 it was ok for the power I was making then which was 260rwhp. But now I'm pushing around the 400rwhp and with not alot if abuse it started to slip. I now run an exedy twin plate setup. Was very expensive but totally worth it. Have not had an ounce of trouble with it. Few things to note with the twin plates.

    - Yes they are noisey when engaged
    - No good for drags (unless you plan on killing it early)
    - Bit hard to get used to
    - Great for drift/circuit
    - It is an actual on/off clutch
    - Heavy pedal

But all of these things don't worry me or suit me so its great for me. I was just over the clutch not being able to hold up.

    Hope this helps a bit.

please dont get a twin plate

I had one in the levin and it was dismal to drive everywhere

NPC ftw, easy as to talk to, tell him what you want he will do it for you.

Running a 6-7puc cushioned button, modified evo pressure plate (clamp is approx 13-1350kg's) and custom flywheel to suit

hasnt slipped once running over 200fwkw through it.

Easy as to drive, gf can drive it cake as well

Im looking at running up to 400kw at the wheels and big torque its a 2JZGTE with to4z. a single that will handle that will be a bitch I would imagine.

I have spoken to a few guys with similar set ups and they seem to think It will be ok.

thanks for the advice though I will talk to NPC

as a matter of interest why was it dismal?

im also a massive fan of NPC

had mine for a couple of years, brass button sprung centre (good for 350 kw atw in this application) hasnt spun on me yet with 265.

after sales service is very very good, easy to talk to, quick reponces etc.

yeah dealing with npc, they said, if for some reason u have any problems get me on the phone asap and we will work it out.

but yeah, tell him what you want, he will tell you what he can do

but yeah, the pedal itself isn't what I would call heavy, beautiful pedal feel, can still feel it bite but perfectly streetable, gf drives it no prob and it hasnt slipped yet. Should be good for plenty more power also.

Will be chucking a set of street slicks/launch control on it early next year when our drag season begins but dont see any problems there

took a few days to get a custom flywheel/clutch set up done, was to me in darwin within the week

the twinplate in the levin(fwd) was dismal due to the absolute crap drivability, was an ap racing twin, compression lock ups if heel toe wasnt done while downshifting on the street etc, taking off was just bad, either had to slip the clutch to get a reasonable non attention grabbing take off from the lights or just rev it up pop it and well yeah thats self explanatory.

    +1 for NPC.
Dougie is the man to talk to there, he knows his stuff and is a decent bloke. He's sorting out another clutch for me at the moment actually, for the 20V. He supplied the last HD clutch i had and customised the pressure plate so that the pedal feel was really light. In future i'll only be going there for my clutches

Edit: Forgot to mention too he is the Exedy rep in qld and alot of his clutch kits are modified exedy units. I even got the 1G modified clutch cheaper through him than I could at TRADE price through my supplier!
