Do you need the entire tie rod, or just the tie rod ends? That will make a huge difference in price. I would search the catalogues at the local parts store, and look at Crowns that were deliverd in Aus eg, MS123.

    cheers Chuck.

car is defected at the moment so im tryin to fix things up so it goes through regency first time, needs castor rod bushes aswell, and idler arm is slightly worn, would these all be the same as the 123. dont know if i need the whole tierod or just the end car has this problem where you hit a bump and the drivers wheel wobbles and ya have to tap the brakes to stop it.

hahaha!! The good-old wobby UZS131 problem

We've ALL had that problem - it comes factory with a UZS131.

You need to get new castor rod bushes, and get the crush tube reduced in length so that the bushes actually bind up hard against the castor rod mount. Otherwise the new bushes will wobble the same as the old ones.
Then get new lower control arm bushes. I would get urethane ones, cos the rubber ones are SHIT.\

The idler arm bushes are same as MS123 iirc, and about $2ea. You just undo the hinge bolt, swing out the idler arm, pop out the two old bushes (they look like little top hats with a hole in the top) and put in new ones.

    Hope that helps!

I bought my LCA and castor bushes from toyota (chuck above helped me buy them)... however I would personally visit a specialist suspension shop as ask to get some urethane/nolathane ones instead of the stock rubber ones.

They will have contacts to get some, or get custom ones made if not available off the shelf.
The shop i went to in sydney offered to custom make some urethane ones, but i was a tightarse at the time.

check the lower control arm bushes... on mine, the slop in the castor rods lead to the LCA bushes dying a premature and violent death.

Also - did the shop reduce the length of the castor rod crush tube? I bet they didnt... cos the castor rod bushes we got from toyota dont actually hold tight against the castor rod mount, and thus have LOTS of slop. Reduce length of crush tube reduced that problem.

Go to a decent suspension shop!!

vipcrown, bite the bullet, and replace all the steering suspension wear parts. Lower control arm bushes, castor rod bushes, (done) idler arm, pitman arm, and ball joints. Yes sure the car may have only low "K"s on it, but the combination of Japanese roads and the age of the rubber components has rendered all the suspension bits useless. Replace the lot, and enjoy another 10 years of superb VIP comfort.

Whilst replacing air struts, I reinstalled the LCA with the original bushes, as they looked to be in superb condition, 6 months down the track, they were totally FUBAR. So replace the lot and hang the expense.

    cheers Chuck.

mine were totally fubar on a 120,000k import.
listen to Chuck - bite the bullet and replace them.

I recommend getting some urethane bushes made for the LCAs though.

Pitman arm - that one is a DOOSEY! I got the last one in australia at the time, and cost me aroudn $400 from memory. Genuine toyota only - there is no aftermarket part here in aus.
