A Few Bad Noises and Shakes

Hey Guys,

I have been lurking for a while now on toymods, and I am braking my silence to ask for some advice. My car (1987 CSi Corolla) is starting to show signs of old age and it is developing some issues, the most alarming of which being a 'vibrating/knocking' noise coming from the front end. It only does this under heavy acceleration at low revvs, and only in gears above second. The problem is made more apparent when the car is under increased force, eg climbing a hill.

Does anybody have a clue about what could be going on here? I don't particularly want to drive it like this but there are times when I almost have to.

Hi,

First thing i'd do is jack the car up on the front wheels and inspect all the joints and bushes, so hold the wheel from left to right and move it side to side to see if there is any loose bushes, then hold the wheel from top and bottom and do the same.

i dont know how mechanically inclined you are so here goes..
have you had the wheels off/had it serviced recently
loose wheel nuts may be the problem

visit any tyre place and have a technician put your car on a low hoist
they dont usually charge for this. as its just a safety check

if the technician finds something they will give you a quote
theyll check your tyres, bearings, cv joints, suspension, steering rack, tie rod ends and brakes.. then go from there...
