    Hi,

Yep I have done this exact conversion.

    1. Sump - remove bowl section from the front and reweld to rear. Plate large hole left in the sump from bowl removal.

    2. Electric speedo - easy fix is to purcahse VDO speedo and install in Hilux dash. As a bonus this speedo can be recalibrated for whatever wheels you end up using.i.e. different rolling diameter wheels on the rear, or a ratio change in the diff, will throw your speedo out.

    3. BCM - purchase any of the "reprogrammed" BCMs. These are available from all sorts of conversion places.

If you are stuck best bet is to contact http://www.v6conversions.com.au/ and just get a kit.

    Pete

thanks Pete i am trying to do this on the lowest budget ever the insurance company from my w/comp gave me a $1000 tu convert my manual to auto as i have to have a total knee replacement done in two months i bought a 98 series 3 from a 98 statesman that was that money gone and i was hoping to sell the 4y to cover most of the other costs the mounts are not a problem its just the sump and wiring and over riding the BCM maybe some one has blown or smashed one up i can pick up the bits i need cheaper i am only getting 80% of my wage it stinks so things are pretty tight. .

    Hi,

Wiring the orignal dash into the Lux certainly sounds doable, and the cheapest option if you already have the dash.....it might just take a bit of patience to get it to fit well and working. Sorry I can't be more of a help on that but I haven't actually done what you are asking.

    Good luck with the conversion.

    Pete

Hi all has any one done the BCM by pass i have been told you can fire up the motor without the BCM at all you get so many answers but a lot are just guessing some one must have done the conversion with out spending so much money if you can do most the work your self and has any one got a photo of the converted sump I am getting to the point of selling it all with the ute if the costs are to high as with my knee replacement comming up in six weeks and only getting 80% of my wage i cant afford all these big dollars some conversion places are asking so can some one help as time is running out for me to have an auto ute unless some one has a cheap vr/vt ute they want to swap for all the gear and ute.
