    Default 1G-GTE problems

Dad just got himself a toyota supra GA70 car seemed fine when we picked it up, drove perfect ect pulled up home it was a 10minute drive. parked the car turned it off and we were checking it out whenabout 5 minutes went past the radiator pipe blew off..refilled new clamps, thermostat, got radiator pressure tested ect all fine.. but when ever the cars going the pressure just keeps building causing the radiator pipes to swell like there about to blow..doesnt over heat or nothing but cant really drive the car as they will just keep wanting to blow any idea's?? has no signs of a BHG..also another weird thing is that when you remove the oil cap whilst idling the car stalls same as if you remove the dipstick it will run really rough anybody got any answers? besides all that the engine runs smooth and drives great!! thanks pplz

The engine will stall if you remove the oil cap as it is losing crankcase pressure and creating an air leak that should normally be recirculated into the intake, that is why the engine will stall or turn off.

As for the cooling system, I thought it could be blown head gasket causing more pressure in the system causing the hoses to blow off, but you said that it has no signs of a BHG, probably something clogged that is restricting flow, causing the hose to blow off.

My Holden has a pressure release valve in the radiator cap which then fills a surge tank on high pressure release.
From what you said the valve maybe faulty and not relieving the pressure.
When the engine is turned off the water around the head & block can boil cause a rise in pressure (due to loss of cooling)?

    I would replace that first.

I'd Definately replace the rad cap, Cap its a basic presure release valve, may be jamming etc.

But if its not that it may be running too hot, the standard guages are notoriously inaccurate.
If u can borrow a laser thermometer (most workshops have them) or find some other way of getting a temp reading it may help. When you switch any engine off you'll get a spike, its called heat soak. if the cars borderline overheating, turning it off can push it over the edge and make it boil.
    good luck

could also be air in the system. check to see if there is a bleed valve when filing the cooling system.
