AE86 Steering Rack Alternatives etc

I was wondering wether or not any other steering racks will fit into an AE86 without any modifications etc.
I was thinking maybe AE71 or some other type of corolla which is easily accesable.

Any ideas ??

i am pretty ure simon used to use a KE70 rack. but i cant say whether it fit with modification. i would suspect it would need very little if any.

you might be on the money with the ae71 jobbie.

why do you ask though?

I used an AE86 rack in my AE71 as a replacement.

ive also used ke70 rack, only thing differant was the unijoint from rack to colum but the ae86 one fixed that

take your rack with you, just incase.

but if you just want a replacement i can get you an ae86 one easily and cheaply.

I've heard from what should be a reliable source that an AW-11 MR-2 rack is the same as an AE-86 one.

KE70 rack will fit AE86

HOWEVER, you get less lock. KE70 rack has 10mm less throw (one less tooth on the rack). So that is no good for the drift puppies. However it'll get you around if extra lock is no issue.
