Default 2JZ into E3o BMW... runs but won't rev. ???

I have enjoyed my JZ swapped car so much that I have been trying to get all my friends to go 1 or 2j. The latest is a 2J and W58 (I know, I know) into a 1990 BMW 325 coupe. We have worked out almost all of the mechanical stuff over the last few weeks and are finally down to the part I hate the most...wiring.

I found fuel pump power on the BMW harness and then looked up what I thought would put the 2J to running on it's ECU harness. The engine fired right up (ran on 5 cyls then picked up the 6th after a few moments). The motor was able to rev up just fine for the first minute or so, but right about the time that last cylinder caught up, it started refusing to rev past what sounds like 2000ish rpms.

If I tip into the throttle at 1500 RPMs or so it will die straight away until I let off the throttle. As soon as the throttle is released, it will settle right back into a pretty nice idle at a guessed 700-1000rpms.

The connections I have made are something like...

switch, +B, and maybe one or two others on the small ECU plug (all to 12V+)

12V+ to the two Black with an orange stripe wires

and I tied some of the brown grounds that sprout out of the harness to good solid ground spots on the chassis. I did not cut them, just tapped into and jumped to the chassis.

Oh, and the 12V signal the fuel pump wants...but that dosn't matter to the 2J I suppose.

My questions are as follows. have I wired up everything I needed to have all the sensors powered, grounded, and happy? Am I missing something major? Could it just be a bad sensor (MAP???) causing this? What sensor to look for if it isnt a lack of power to something important?

Thanks in advance! Yall helped tons on the VVT-i motor in my old R32.

Ps. All intercooler piping is plumbed but I guess that dosnt matter much on this MAP car huh...

I do not have the check light hooked up.

This question will show just how bad I am at this wiring stuff, but is there a way to just hook the check light to a regular little light bulb? If so, is the signal from the check wire grounging or giving power???

More bad news, it was as described last night, but tonight it has nothing with the same stuff hooked up...

wonderful. So if I go check light signal---small bulb---12v switched with ignition, I should get a functioning check light to figure other stuff out with, right?

BTW, I got the originaql problem solved. It was a shoddy crank position sensor. It went back to working after a good tapping with a hammer, so we got a known good one and everything has been great since.

Thanks for the check light help though!
