Toyota???????
Ok, thought this was going to be a real easy one, but I cant seem to find new axle studs for my hilux axles. I'm talking about the ones which locate the axles to the housing which you then put a nut on and tighten. I've been to NICE products where I get my wheel studs and nuts, but no luck. He didnt know where to get them. Been to REPCO, Autobarn, Supercheap, etc... all had no idea.
So if someone could give me a heads up where to grab some, that would be great.
Toyota???????
I know thats the obvious, but need a part number. I took one of the studs with me to Toyota and the guy had no idea. Wouldnt even try, and told me without a part number, got no hope.
Have a look through:
http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/
Though im having trouble finding the wheel studs on there
It doesnt have any of the RN2x... and the RN3x/RN4x diagrams dont seem to show the wheel studs??

Also just found this... http://www.jointfuji.com/hilux-f.htm

thanks for that link mate, this is what I'm after, the 4 studs that hold the retainer to the housing. Except there is no studs to be seen in the diagram apart from the actual wheel studs![]()

that would be excellent mate, let me know what you come up with.
Do you know how long it needs to be?
You could just go to your local bolt supply shop and ask for a stud of that size.
Another possible option is buying some 8.8 grade threaded bar and cutting it to size.

Its in that picture there, 42611E.
That said i went to a bolt shop and bought a stack of 8.8 grade bolts and just ground down one side.
Edit: i think i see where you are going wrong here. Its actually a bolt, not a stud, but it has no hex head, instead its fed from the housing side out through the flange and locks up against a flat on the side of the housing.

Hi Chris
42611E are the wheel studs mate.
So what you are saying is that technically it is not a stud? In my mid it is, when you knock it out of the retainer it has a splined shaft which presses into the retainer. These definitely are pushed in from the wheel side of the retainer which then locates into the diff housing flange.
I understand i could just make up some new bolts etc... but for the sake of just getting some new studs, which I would of thought would be quite easy to obtain, maybe I will have to make up something myself.
Technically no, its not a stud. I just made up new ones from bolts ground to size.

I saw that word NICE , please use these with caution , They are much softer than a genuine toyota stud .
Dave
theres 2 different sizes for the studs
10-1.25 PX41-18 need 4 $2.20 each
10-1.25PX37-18 need 4 $2.85 each
let me know if you want me to order them in
cheers craig
The NICE ones are Wheel studs, and im pretty sure those ones that craig listed are the same.
