That is the water drain for the block. Undo the brass sump plug and water will come out and drain the block completely. Generally a 14mm head.

1UZ is a 14mm head, and about 1.5" from the 14mm head engine mount bolts.

Would this be of any use for a supply for water to turbo if being used?
Jeremy
depends on where that tap is relative to the water pump and coolant inlet, and how likely the water is to be too hot to be used for the turbo...Originally Posted by Rallystanza

hrmm.. if water pump feeds the bottom of the block first, and the drain is at the front.. then maybe it's not a bad place to take it from! you would want to check you actually get enough flow and pressure first tho....
interesting idea....

Generally too small to feed a turbo. Best bet is to T off the lines to and from the heater tap.

yer, agree with chris...
all the draincock is good for it emptying enough coolant out of the block to change a water pump. saves mopping coolant out of the hole in the block behind the pump, so it can be dry and clean for gasket sealant, etc.
