How can a thinner wheel sit further in AND further out at the same time?
Hi Guys, currently on my ra23 celica im running a f series from a mx10 corona. It is unshortened which means I have to run fwd offset rims. Currently I have a set of Lenso wheels which a 17x7, +45 offset.
I wish to know if 15x6 +20 will fit? Im still coming to grips with the terminology but through this calculator http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp it states the new wheels will sit 38mm closer to the strut tower and protrude an extra 12mm. Does this mean that if I have the clearance these will fit comfortably?

So it'll sit closer to your guard lip and have massive clearance to the strut.
Do you have 12mm to play with?
6" is pretty narrow for your sized car too and would look well and truly narrow on the back or as the widest tyre you can legally run on a 6" rim aint that wide.

I was thinking the same thing, and YLD already put down the answer.
Tyre size will also play a factor as well. What sizes are you going to run and you do realise that a 6in rim wont be able to take much tyre at all either.
This is why I need help
When I get the car back from the tuners I will measure the clearances. The current rim sits well inside the guard so it shouldn't be an issue.

The other thing to keep in mind is the track while you are trying to get this thing engineered.

buy the 25mm thicknes not the 20mm ones, some grinding of studs will be necessary,
(on the factory hub studs) the factory wheelnuts and studs always stick out past the new hub surface.
the only other way is boring 4 holes in the rims for clearence![]()

^^^^^ these are already fitted to Kedderz car on the front so that the FWD wheels clear the mcpherson strut.
Haven't yet seen your car in person since the rebuild Kedz, but from the photos you seeem to easily have at least 12mm to play with on the outside. The question is, why do you want to go narrower wheels? The Lensos already look a bit skinny on the rear with 7" rim & 215 tyre.
Or are you going for the oldschool look with little rims & fat balloon tyres?![]()

It is hard to find "old school" looking wheels in a FWD offset![]()
