Post Targa West 2009 - Officials Wanted

If anyone’s interested in being a Chicane/Slalom Official for this year’s Targa West running 20-23rd August, we're looking for people to help out. And you'll get right up close to the action, being out on stage running either a Chicane or Slalom.

Generally, it’s mainly Saturday and Sunday we need people for, but there is an opportunity this year for Sunday only, as that is the busiest day for the event, requiring the most number of teams.

If you’re interested, let me know and I can give you some more details. Basically, this year we have some 3 person Chicane Teams, and new 2 person Slalom Teams, using less people/equipment. So if you can get a group of 2 or 3 people, you could help run one of these over the weekend.

More details are also available from the web site: http://www.targawest.com.au, and you can officially register your interest by completing an Official's Registration form.

Yup, I'll be in for that, I will have just got back from the UK. Only thing is, if I need to attend meetings between august 1st and 17th...I ...won't

Are you part of a team already or not been involved before?

I have been an official before, but never as far as getting onto a stage, had work-things take over the last couple of times.

If you can guarantee you'll be available for Sat/Sun 22nd and 23rd August, you could join my brother's team as he's looking for someone. That way he'll have all the equipment already and is experienced.

May be good to try catch-up before then though, when you're available, to meet and make sure it will work.

Drop me an email at [email protected] and we can see what we can arrange.

    Beatle,

Sorry I didn't see your response before. If you can get another person, we have Slalom requirements this year we need to fill. If you can't, but want to help out, we can also put you with someone to help fill a team?

Drop me an email at [email protected]. We're having a Training Day at the WA Car Club rooms tomorrow at 1pm, Hale Road Wattle Grove if you want to pop down and chat?

If there's anyone else out there interested, we're a little short for Slalom teams either on the Friday or the Sunday.

If you can form a team of 2 people, this is great fun and you get close to watching the cars at speed. You'd only need to do it at one stage on the day in question, and you only need space in your car for 5 bollards and some signs, so easy to fit in smaller cars.
