Default Options for a smaller starter?

    Hey guys

I am using an E53 gearbox (taken from a Camry) with my 3SGTE and the starter is fricken massive. Probably not much bigger than most other stuff, I just notice because it's in exactly the wrong place for where I want it

Are there any bolt-on options for:

    * physically smaller starters, or one that will mount
    * on the firewall side of the gearbox or
    * against the block under the exhaust manifold/turbo or
    * against the block under the inlet manifold

To mount it on the other side of the flywheel you'll need to get the ring gear modified.

Can't just press off ring gear and press on the other way around?

I'm not sure if that would be for motors turning in the oppostie direction.

A GT4 starter would probably fit, but the picture isn't good enough for me to tell if the starter you have is the same as one of those or not

It certainly looks the same as a GT4 starter, i pulled the one out of my 162 with a camry box and fit it to my 185..

I am curious to see what you come up with, because if that starter wasn't there my inlet piping would be SOOO much easier!
