    Default compact altenators?

for the 2ZZ conversion.. might sound a bit silly asking, but short of going to the wreckers on the weekend and just digging around for a few hours..

after somthing quite compact.. doesn't really matter about how it's mounted.. can fabricate brackets.. same with pully, can turn up a smaller/larger ally one..

    somthing denso would be good..

i have a few 4A altenators lying around.. but i was hoping that there might be somthing a little smaller..

not really concerned with the power output, the car it will be charging is a MK2 escort.. no pwr windows, fog lights, huge stereo or anything like that.. just basic stuff.. has a little AGM battery in it also..

I am using a diahatsu charade efi alternator. it's really compact, and suprising enough bolted up to the 3s original bottom mount and lined up with the other belts! sweet.
I also heard rumors they are one of the few factory alternators that are happy to spin to crazy rpm's.

1st has measurements, 2nd one has part numbers (not the same amps, but i'd guess they're both the same size)

I brought back a few Perodua Kancil alternators from Malaysia when I was there.
Quite small, not much larger than my fist.

i'm not 100% sure how many amps we would require..

is there any like rule of thumb?? would 55amp's cut it??

as i said there is no amps or subs or tv screens, just

    ecu
    fuel pump
    cdplayer
and your normal late 70's/early 80's ford electrics..

think my 4ag ones are about 70 amp... but that was even out of a GZE, which the car itself would have had heaps more electric things running off it..

havn't really delved into this side of things, so i'm asking for some advice

    40 amps should be enough.

from memory I think the ones with mult-rib (3) are slightly more amps than v-ribbed ones.

Can tell you that 55 amps is enough to run a GT4 celica with twin fuel pump,
intercom, headlights on, demisters etc as it's a rally car,

but a 45A one and the battery would go flat through a stage with the headlights on, ( Targa)

so as you wont be running most of that you'll be fine with way less than that.
